Geeks Without Borders: Computers to Sonora, Mexico

February 2004

Preparation:

Preparations for the computer delivery began in earnest the week before we left. The computers had to be constructed, formatted, tested and networked before we left. We built five complete systems entirely out of donated parts. Altogether, we had four matching Athlon 350MHz systems, and one P-3, along with an inkjet printer, a scanner, and one webcam with internal memory and batteries so it can be used to take pictures outside the computer room. Matt, our hardware head, also repaired the Jeep on top of his other duties !

After careful testing and retesting, the computers, peripherals, and extra parts needed to potentially get the computers already there working, were loaded.
