Geeks Without Borders

Status Report #3

December 25th, 2002

Merry Christmas!

Exciting news down here at Geeks Without Borders Headquarters! We're finally a legally-recognized non-profit! That is, the State of Oregon has recognized us as such, though we are still awaiting word from the IRS. Which means we can now accept donations, although any donations made are not tax-deductible until the feds say they are. Once they make that decision (assuming they do, but I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't), all donations will become retro-actively tax-deductible, but probably not in time for this fiscal year. But if you're not someone who cares about that sort of thing, then please feel free to donate now!

And, speaking of donations, we have updated our web site. Take a look at http://www.gwob.org. What does this have to do with donations? One of the most exciting new features is our ability to accept donations online via PayPal. Just click the donations button and fill in the amount you want to give. It's easy! It's fun! Go ahead and try it out!

We're still working on the "real" web site, so that's still a few months away. In the mean time, check back frequently to watch the slow evolution of our current site.

That's all for now, have a safe and enjoyable holiday season, and remember that anything you post to usenet will be stored forever in the google archives, so don't get online after drinking heavily, cuz it's always embarrassing to be caught drinking and driving on the information superhighway.
