It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of long time Geeks Without Bounds volunteer Paul Mason.

He was the co-organizer of the first and second International Space Apps challenges in Glasgow, Scotland and (co-)organizer of many Random Hacks of Kindness events. He started the RHoK-Sec program of security-focused RHoK events and cybersecurity defense exercise (CDX) events.

Paul loved teaching and was passionate about helping people get involved in the information security field. Before becoming a pentester himself, he was a high school English teacher and later worked for the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). He brought his teaching and assessment expertise to the UK Cyber Security community, and helped improve ICT and security education at all levels.
